What Mavs are actually haggling with Raptors over

Read thread, but basically Raptors can use Baynes as vehicle to create $21M+ TPE.

Daniel Hackett of Raptors HQ took my idea of Raptors wanting a $7.3M TPE for Baynes as a sweeter for Goran trade and made it into a $21M+ TPE. THIS is what I believe Mavs-Raptors are haggling over. Tomorrow Baynes’ contract becomes guaranteed at 11pm central time. Tik tock

I know it’s a minor part in the spitballing here, but Idk how I’d feel trading Terry for a one-year rental. Terry was projected by many to be a steal in last year’s draft, and he showed flashes in the G-League and even when he got some garbage minutes at times before having his personal leave. I just think the Mavs would regret punting on him this early. But I realize Toronto wants something of value for taking on Powell too though.

Terry was projected by many to be a steal in last year’s draft, and he showed flashes in the G-League and even when he got some garbage minutes at times before having his personal leave. I just think the Mavs would regret punting on him this early. But I realize Toronto wants something of value for taking on Powell too though.

Toronto interviewed Terry and Green before 2020 draft, so we know they have interest in getting one or both for the “Powell tax” if you will. We know Mavs are resistant to this, and even more resistant than we think if Bob V is still the shadow GM as he drafted them. The TPE idea I threw together and then Daniel expanded upon is a way the Raptors win the trade in their eyes, and then Mavs don’t give up both Green and Terry. Just Terry in this scenario, sadly.

Do you really think we’d regret getting rid of Terry? I know a lot of fans were high on him and think he has lots of potential but guess who also showed flashes and killed in the GLeague, Daryl Macon, who I really like btw.
Maybe I’m wrong but their seems to be this almost Roddy Beaubois fascination for Terry that just isn’t a reality. I think it’s time to admit Donnie screwed up last years draft royally by taking Green over Seddiq Bey and trading away Seth. I say if it means getting Dragic and a few other players, trade all those scraps ASAP.
