My instant reaction to Kemba buyout was that Raptors can use Thunder even more as leverage in a Dragic trade against the Mavs.
Thunder could absorb Dragic + Raptors asset and go to the Hawks and say we will take on Gallinari’s next 2 years at $20M per year plus a pick for this Dragic expiring. So, Hawks don’t pay the tax when Trae extension kicks in.
Thunder have close to $30M in cap space right now, so they turn their cap space into Gallinari, Raptors asset, Hawks asset.
A way to reach the salary floor and get assets…
